ESA Certificate of Acceptance

Once your electrical work has been reviewed and passed, ESA will issue a Certificate of Acceptance to the person who filed the notification.

The Certificate of Acceptance proves your electrical work meets the Ontario Electrical Safety Code. It’s an important document for insurance purposes, resale, and peace of mind.

When you hire a Licensed Electrical Contractor, they will arrange the necessary notifications to ESA and provide you with an ESA Certificate of Acceptance. Remember to ask them for a copy of the certificate for your records.

General handymen and other service providers cannot do electrical work unless they hold an ECRA/ESA licence number.

If you are unable to receive a copy from your contractor, please complete and return the Access to Information form. Email the completed application to RFI@electricalsafety.on.ca.
