Continuing Education for Licence Holders
To enhance public electrical safety, the Ontario Auditor General, in her Report dated December 2020, recommended that the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) work together with the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services (MGCS) to implement a continuing education requirement as a condition of Master Electrician licensing.
Auditor General Recommendation (AGR) 17.1:
To enhance public electrical safety, we recommend that the ESA work together with the Ministry Government and Consumer Services (MGCS) to implement a continuing-education requirement as a condition of master electrician licensing.
ESA presented several concepts to our Advisory Committees for input and conducted a public consultation in the summer of 2021.
The MGCS started their public consultation on a Continuing Education Framework for Licensed Master Electricians in March 2022.
